9-Year-Old Entrepreneur & Ivy League Lip Balm Giveaway

Susannah Poese is pretty amazing. She raises bees in her backyard and uses the beeswax , along with shea butter, coconut oil, vitamin E and other natural ingredients, to make lip balm. She comes up with all the flavor ideas herself, and she her sister design and create the labels for each tube. She does all her own marketing and runs her own Etsy shop, Ivy League Lip Balm.

So I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking: So what? A lot of people do all those things. What makes her so special??

Yeah, she’s 9.

That’s not a typo. She is NINE. YEARS. OLD. In fact, she just turned 9 a couple of days ago. {Isn’t she the cutest thing ever? Don’t you just want to hug her?} Not only that, but she started her business when she was 6.

When I was 9, I was playing with My Friend Dolls {crap, I just made myself seem crazy old again, didn’t I??} and having dance parties in my bedroom with my sister under a disco ball we made out of a styrofoam ball and silver sequins.

Anyway, back to Susannah.

9-year-old entrepreneur

She chose the name Ivy League Lip Balm because she wants to use the money she makes from her business to pay for college. In fact, her slogan is “Avoiding college loans one tube at a time.” Her dad figures it will take about 50,000 tubes to pay for 4 years at Harvard.

Her flavors include Bubblegum Blow Out, Watermelon, Fizzy Pop, Want S’more?, Orange Ya Glad, and The Search for Spearmint, just to name a few.

I like anything Spearmint-I grow it in my garden and use it in lemonade. So I would pick the Searching for Spearmint.
    Thanks, Peggy
