Mother’s Day Gift Ideas & Giveaway – #StrolbyMothersDay

I love shopping.

I mean, like really, really love it. And I’m blessed to be married to a man who loves shopping {almost} as much as I do. When we go somewhere new, we spend hours shopping. I don’t even necessarily mean actually buying stuff, but just wandering around, going into cute shops and checking everything out. It’s where I get a ton of inspiration, and I love buying presents in quirky little shops, where you know you’re getting something unique.

With Mother’s Day coming up, I was looking for somewhere I could go to find something amazing for my amazing mom. But living in a small town, there are only so many options.

Then I discovered Strolby.

Strolby sells locally made, limited-production goods from the best small shops in Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley in a single online marketplace. Strolby enables customers to shop local shops from anywhere, and to discover innovative designers and artisans along the way.

It’s like strolling along a cute little New York street, finding adorable handmade goods, right from my house in central Pennsylvania.

Brooklyn was Strolby’s first market because it’s become known in recent years as being on the cutting edge of design and fashion. Brooklyn offers tons of amazing small shops run by trendsetters who get their inventory from some of today’s best local craftsmen.

Strolby launched its second location, the Hudson Valley, just last month, and plans to expand to additional markets later this year and in 2015.

I was so excited about this site, people. I spent forever checking out the Mother’s Day gift ideas. There were so many things to choose from: jewelry, home decor items, cookbooks from local restaurants, accessories, food… you name it.

I couldn’t decide on just favorite idea for Mother’s Day, so here are my top five.

I’m one of those crazy people who always has tubes stashed around the house, in purses, coat pockets, random drawers, etc. I love that this Organic Lip Balm Flight from Brooklyn-based skincare company S.W. Basics includes four different scents.

I absolutely love the design, which was created by Brooklyn textile artist Jane Buck. {Bonus! The tote also comes in a yellow squash design, and you can also get this beet pattern on a scarf!} The bag is made from 100% organic cotton and is hand screen printed using non-toxic inks.

I lived in D.C. for 9 years after college — Dave and I got engaged and married there, we owned our first home there, David was born there — so it has a soft spot in my heart. Which is why I am crushing on this D.C. Travel Spray from Nomaterra, a travel-themed fragrance shop in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. There are tons of different scents and candles inspired by locations across the country {including Miami, Oahu, Savannah, Boston, East Hampton and more}, so you can definitely find one that speaks to a special place for Mom!

I am totally picturing this Cast Iron Sacred Heart Hook on the wall, lovingly holding up a picture of the grandkids. And on another note, the next time I’m in Brooklyn, you can bet I’m visiting Harvey’s Counter. I cannot get enough of the quirky little gifts in there. {I mean, I don’t know what I would ever do with a Deer Skeleton Cushion, but I kind of want to find out!}

Finally, this Arrow Cuff totally reminds me of those awesome old-school heart tattoos with “Mom” in the middle. It’s handcrafted in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, by jewelry designer Erica Bradbury for Species by the Thousands.

What’s even more exciting than these great gifts is that Strolby is giving away some of THEIR favorite items to you!

1. Sun Studs from Lady J Jewelry // 2. Brooklyn Beach Spray for Hair from
The One Well  // 3. Cirque Nail Color in Chainmail from Cirque Nail Color // 4. Malibu Honeysuckle Roll-On Perfume Oil from Nomaterra // 5. Elemental Cuff from Erica Bradbury for Species by the Thousands
