Kyocera Hydro Vibe – Sprint Ambassador

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Sprint. I received a product sample to facilitate my review and to thank me for participating. #SprintMom #sponsored

For the past few months, I’ve been a Sprint Ambassador, which means that I get to try out all sorts of newfangled goodies from Sprint and let all of you know what I thought of them. {For my thoughts on the HTC One Max Harmon/Kardon edition, click here!}

My latest device is the Kyocera Hydro Vibe 4G LTE Smartphone. And you know what the coolest thing about it is?

It’s waterproof!

Seriously! You can dunk this bad boy right in the ocean {or pool, or sink, or — eww– toilet} and it pops right back out, no worse for the wear {well, maybe it might be a little worse for the wear if it goes in the toilet, but you know what I mean}.

Have you ever dropped your phone in water? I’ve heard so many stories of people forgetting their phone was in their pocket and going into the pool, or accidentally washing their phone, or dropping it into the sink while they were washing their hands. It’s such a horrible feeling, and unless you shell out big bucks for a waterproof case, your phone is most likely toast if this happens to you.

Unless it’s this phone.

I got my phone in the mail a few days before we were leaving for a 3-week-long beach vacation, so the timing could not have been better. I am a bit of a maniac when it comes to taking pictures at the beach, so I always need to have a phone or camera with me.

I usually keep my big Nikon in my beach bag, but I’m always worried that something is going to happen to it. And I have the same issues about my phone — I’m so paranoid that I’m going to forget it’s in my pocket, or the tide is going to come in when we run to the house for lunch, or I’m just going to be me and drop it into the ocean for no apparent reason.

So when I saw that this Kyocera Hydro Vibe could handle being submerged in up to 3 feet of water for up to 30 minutes, I was all in.

I mean, would you ever let this happen with a regular phone?

Sometime’s a man’s gotta do a conference call in the ocean, you know? {Seriously, that’s what he told me he was doing: a conference call. The kid cracks me up.}

The compact, 4.5-inch qHD impact-resistant display and 8-megapixel camera make this phone great for taking pictures when you don’t want to lug around a huge camera. And, with a battery that gives you a longer use on a single charge — up to 14 hours of talk time! — you can take pictures all day at the beach with no worries.

Here are a few of the pictures I took:

So if you’re in the market for a new phone and you’re accident prone {hey, I made a rhyme!}, definitely check out the Kyocera Hydro Vibe.
