Celebrating the Bright Side of Life

I love summer. {Who doesn’t?!?} This summer has especially amazing, because we’re spending three weeks at the shore. We’ve never spent this long at the beach, and it’s been so great. We’ve had family and friends in and out the whole time, but last night was the first time it was just the 5 of us.

And as much as I’ve loved having people here, and as much as I can’t wait for my parents to get here tomorrow and experience the shore with us, it was fabulous being here with just our little family.

Some of my happiest memories from when I was a little girl growing up outside of Erie, PA, were from the summer days when my parents would come home early from work and drive us all to the beach. We’d pack a picnic dinner {or even better, cook on one of the beach grills}, and eat, play and swim until we were too exhausted to move anymore. Then my dad would sit at a picnic table and play his guitar and we’d all sing along.

Those are the kind of memories I want my kids to have.

So last night, I decided to give the boys an extra special little treat and let them take their dessert down to the beach.

I let them grab some Fruttare Frozen Fruit Bars, and off we went.

If you’ve never tried Fruttare, you need to get yourself to the store {they’re available at retailers nationwide} and get some, pronto. Not only are they delicious {which the kids love}, they’re made with real fruit and juice {which I love}, and the company’s philosophy is all about having a positive outlook on life {which everyone should love}.

I mean, how can you not love a company like that??

David and Connor chose Peach & Milk, and Connor, being the fabulously dramatic child that he is, pretended to faint when he tasted his. {“But Mom! It’s just so DELICIOUS!”}

This was him posing like a model. Because, of course. {But check out those chunks of peaches! Yum!}

I don’t even know what this is all about.

Mason chose Black Cherry.

Which, while also delicious, was messy and sticky and drippy and disastrous, and he ended up with sand glued to his hands.

But that’s what made it awesome.

We love celebrating the bright side of life with little moments like these. It’s so awesome to take something normal like dessert and make it exciting and fun. I think it’s things like this that make a childhood so special.
