Trivial Pursuit Live! Game Night

I’ve talked before about how much we love game night in our house. Since we had so much fun downloading and playing MONOPOLY Plus, I decided to check out what other games are available on the Hasbro Game Channel. When I saw they had Trivial Pursuit Live!, I was crazy-pants excited and knew I had to try it out.

I have to say though, I did have a few reservations at first. I wasn’t sure how you’d be able to answer questions, and I was also concerned that the boys wouldn’t be able to play because the questions would be too hard for them.

So Dave and I decided to try it out ourselves at first, because we are out-of-control competitive wanted to see if they boys would be able to play too.

It was so different than what I was expecting. Instead of traveling around a board, players take part in a TV game show. You can choose to play either three or five rounds, and each round features a different game category with different rules. Round 1 starts with straight-up multiple-choice trivia questions, but the subsequent rounds switch things up.

In one of the later rounds, players take turns putting items in order; for example, Nancy Drew books from oldest to newest, professional soccer players from most to fewest career goals scored, and authors from most to fewest books written.

Another one of my favorite rounds featured a question with 16 different answers to choose from. Depending on which playing style you chose at the beginning of the game, players either take turns choosing the answers that they think are correct or just play a huge free-for-all, rushing to pick their answers before someone else does.

After Dave and I had played once, we realized that, as long as Mason teamed up with someone else, we could all play together. Especially in these two rounds, the boys had almost as good a shot at getting answers correct as Dave and I, because a lot of it is just guessing {at least for us — hopefully I’m not revealing something about our intelligence or lack thereof right now…}.

I really am such a huge fan of these downloadable games on the Hasbro Game Channel. The instant gratification is awesome, as is the price — the games you get in stores can be as much as $50 or $60, while Trivial Pursuit Live! was only $9.99.

Next time you’re looking for some new games to spice up your family game night, check out the Hasbro Game Channel!
