Gold Painted Wood Bowls

By now, you all know how much I love a good makeover. I’ve done a ton of them on this blog, {like here, here, here, here, and here}. I just have so much fun trying to see the potential in cruddy thrift store items and then bringing them back to life.

Like these wood bowls.

I mean, they are fine. They’re your everyday, run-of-the-mill wooden bowls, and you can find tons of them in pretty much any thrift store you go in, for around $1-$2.

I liked the curves on these ones, so I snatched them up. But I wasn’t going to leave them as-is. Oh, hecks no. I was going to give them some fancy pants to wear.

I had seen a bunch of white ceramic bowls with gold lining the inside {usually for a lot of money, like these ones and this one}, so I decided to fake that with these bowls with some liquid leaf and flat white spray paint.

After thoroughly cleaning them, I gave them a couple of coats of flat white spray paint. I love the way it makes them look like unglazed ceramic. You can see that the inside still looks a little funky, but that’s ok, we’re going to paint that.

Once that was dry, I coated the inside with liquid leaf, which I have used a few times before {also here}. I love it because it’s easy to use and packs a big punch.

That’s it, they are done and ready to hold my jewelry on my bedside table!

Jenn, these are absolutely beautiful! I have a huge stock of paint.. never heard or seen liquid leaf. The finish is absolutely gorgeous! Did you tape around the white or free-hand?
