I’m back with another sewing project today!
How cute is this heart garland?!?
It was the first sewn paper project I’ve ever done, but I can guarantee you it won’t be the last. It took no time at all, and I love it. I want to make one out of every imaginable shape.
{You can find that Valentine’s Day printable here!}
To start, I just punched a ton of hearts out of scrapbook paper {I used this heart paper punch}. I used what I had on hand, so some of it is thicker, more like card stock, and some is just regular paper thickness. Both worked perfectly fine, and you can’t tell which is which when you’re looking at the finished project, so just use what you have.
Then, just sew them together! You want to leave a stitch or two between each heart so that they hang nicely, but other than that, there’s really nothing else you need to do!
These would make a really sweet Valentine’s gift, too.
Have you ever done a sewn paper project?

This is super cute! I absolutely love it! I want one! We must be kindred spirits… my tag line reads, “love the little things” I know it’s not the same, but we must share similar values! I think I’ll be visiting again! I’m pinning this too!

I love this idea! I love all of your V Day decor. I’ve never been much of a decorator but I’m trying to change that.

I am so jealous of the crafty skills. I would end up punching holes in my fingers if I tried this. Not kidding. Great job!

PS-Is your Valentine’s box from B&N?

I’ve done this vertically before (sewing down the center) with hearts I cut out of an old dictionary – I love it! I’ve actually never finished the strands (someday! lol). I love this, it looks so pretty 🙂

Such a cute project! You could use the same process for all kinds of shapes to do garlands for different holidays like eggs or pumpkins!

Oh, this is adorable! Sadly I can’t sew at all, not even a button. I haven’t touched a sewing machine since 8th grade Home Ec when my teacher finished my project for me because clearly I shouldn’t be allowed near needles. In my 20s my mom banned me from ever using scissors again after I attempted to cut my own bangs. Apparently I need to stay away from sharp things. And that’s why I usually buy adorable things like this from Etsy. Would be so nice to make it myself. Here from SITS.
