I am somewhat obsessed with fun food. If I can make food look like something else — particularly something cute — then just sign me the heck up.
I am also a huge proponent of getting kids involved in the kitchen. Some of my favorite memories from when I was a kid are being in the kitchen with my mom and grandma, cooking and baking cookies, pies, bread… whatever. So whenever we can, we get them cooking and baking with us. {Dave’s the cook, I’m the baker.}
The other night, David got to have a special Daddy-and-David-fun-night: they went out to dinner, just the two of them, and then to the Penn State basketball game. I decided Connor and Mason should have a special dinner here.
So we made an Angry Birds Pizza.
Seriously, how cute is that?!?
Now, I can’t take credit for the idea, because there are a ton of pictures of Angry Birds pizzas on Pinterest. The problem is, most of them are just pictures with no source. I used this one as my inspiration, but no matter how hard I looked, I couldn’t find the original source. {If anyone knows the original source, please let me know in the comments section so I can give proper credit!} So I just winged it. {Wung it? Wang it? Hee hee… no, not that one…}
The best part of this was that Connor and Mason pretty much made the whole thing themselves. I helped with a couple of parts, but they did almost everything themselves.
Here’s the breakdown of what we used for everything:
It doesn’t matter if your kids don’t like everything on here, they can pick off whatever they don’t want, or you can substitute something else. In our house, none of us are big bell pepper fans, and I thought none of us liked black olives either, until Mason asked if he could try one and then proceeded to eat half the can.
But anyway.
You really need to try this out sometime. It’s super fast, super easy {seriously. If a 6-year-old and a 2-year-old can make this, so can you.}, and super, ridiculously, insanely cute.
