I seriously cannot believe that school is starting back up. It’s crazy town. I mean, seriously, summer just started.
Ridiculous.
But however I feel about it, and whether I am in denial or not, it’s happening. David is starting 4th grade, Connor is going into first, and Mason is going into the Thrillin’ Threes class at preschool.
We have always been so fortunate with our teachers, and are so grateful for everything they do. Especially preschool teachers. I think they’re an entirely different breed of person than I am. I can barely hold it together sometimes with one 3-year-old, let alone a class of 10 of them. Miss Valerie, Mason’s teacher this fall, is one of the kindest, most patient people I have ever met. Connor had her when he was in the 3’s class, and we all just loved her. She’s truly remarkable, and I have no idea how she does it.
I also know that teachers often purchase their own supplies for their classrooms, so this year, I wanted to help out Miss Valerie and the other teachers at our amazing preschool, as well as show my appreciation for what she does on a daily basis by giving her a little back-to-school teacher gift.
I was at Office Depot last week getting some supplies for the house, and I got sucked into the whole school supplies section. {Am I the only the one who gets super excited about school supplies? I love them.} They had so many crazy good deals, I went a little nuts.
When you spend $20 or more on select Newel Rubbermaid brands, like PaperMate, Expo Neon Window Markers, Sharpie, Uni-Ball & Mr. Sketch, you save $5. And, this week, {from August 17-23}, all Sharpie singles are $.25. A QUARTER! {While supplies last.} That’s just bananas. Plus, you can sign up for Office Depot Rewards and earn points with every purchase, and then exchange those points for rewards certificates.
I think I was most excited about the Mr. Sketch scented markers. Who remembers these from when they were a kid?? They were my absolute favorite, and I didn’t think they still made them! The second that I smelled them, it was like I was instantly 6 again.
For Miss Valerie’s gift, I just got a little wood crate from the craft store and spray painted it a fun, bright orange color.
I added some washi tape to the sides and then hit the whole thing with some clear acrylic sealer.
Then I spelled out her name with these fun little shiny metallic letters.
Finally, I added in all of the fun supplies and that was it!
I hope this little gift helps take a little bit of pressure off of Miss Valerie and the other teachers at school and shows them just how much we all appreciate them!
