Happy Tailgating Tuesday!! Today I am going to show you how to quickly and easily make Chocolate-Peanut Butter Pretzel Footballs.
When I was putting together my Ultimate Tailgating Recipe Collection, one of my favorite recipes I found was for these Chocolate Dipped Football Pretzel Bites. I mean, come on. They are the cutest thing EVER.
But here’s the thing.
One of my least favorite things to do, cooking/baking-wise, is dipping things in chocolate. I can’t do it. No matter how hard I try, no matter how careful I am, the stuff comes out looking like someone already gnawed on it. Not good.
So I didn’t think I was going to be able to pull these off. Until one day when I was at Wegmans, and discovered these bad boys.
You know I love me a good shortcut.
Literally, with these, all you have to do is pipe on the laces. {If you don’t have a Wegmans near you, they also sell them at World Market and Trader Joe’s, and probably lots of other places, so check out your local grocery store.}
And they turn out so cute, it’s ridiculous. I made these for my son’s flag football team party last night, and they were quite the hit with the 6- to 8-year-old boy set. {And with the parents!}
Here’s what you do:
Lay all the pretzel nuggets out on a baking sheet.
Place a small amount {you only need 1-2 oz} of white chocolate {you can use almond bark, white chocolate chips, or other type of white chocolate} in a plastic sandwich bag. Do not seal it all the way. Melt in the microwave for 15-30 seconds at a time, squooshing the bag after each interval to make sure the chocolate is mixed and totally melted.
Once your chocolate is melted, snip off a TINY corner of the bag. Like, teensy. Then, just pipe the laces on.
If you haven’t done a lot of piping, I know it can be scary and intimidating. But with a little practice, you’ll realize it’s actually super easy. I made a short little video to show you a couple of tricks to make your lines look awesome. And you know what? Even if they do come out a little wonky, who cares?!? That’s part of the charm of something being homemade.
So there you have it. Adorable, EASY to make little football treats.

Super easy! My family loves chocolate peanut butter pretzels. I don’t even think my boys would notice if I piped on a football stripe on it. I feel your pain on the chocolate dipping thing. I haven’t faired much better.
