Citrusy Beer Float

I’m not going to lie: I love alcohol. It makes me happy. There’s really nothing better in the summer than an ice cold cocktail on the patio. 

I also love dessert. And when you combine alcohol and dessert, well, then that’s like the best thing ever.

I’ve been seeing a lot of alcoholic floats lately, so I had to join in the fun. I was trying to figure out what I could make, and then I remembered going to a beer tasting one day at Wegmans. For dessert, they served lemon sorbet topped with a blackberry lambic beer. It was amazing.

So I decided to make a citrusy beer float. And it’s equally as incredible. I don’t think it’s possible to find a more refreshing drink.

And it’s pretty much the easiest thing ever to make. 

First, choose a beer. I used Shiner Ruby Redbird, which is made with grapefruit, but you could also use something like Leinenkugel’s Summer Shandy or even Blue Moon. You just want something that’s going to work with fruity flavors. Experiment! {I mean, what’s the worst that could happen? Except for, you know, getting drunk.}

Pour that bad boy into a glass. It’s going to foam up, so make sure you use a bigger glass.

Then just plop in a nice, healthy scoop {or two} of orange sherbet.

And then watch the fun happen.

Go ahead, make a mess. It’s the summer, it’s what you’re supposed to do.

It’s all good.

I served mine with a fun little straw/spoon {I got mine at a local grocery store, but these are similar} so you can scoop up the sherbet. 

I think I’m in love.
