If you read this blog, you know I have 3 boys. Who are insanely, ridiculously into sports. It doesn’t really matter what sport, either. Pretty much whatever is in season is their favorite sport at that time. So naturally, right now it’s basketball mania in our house. I thought it would be fun to put together a fun little basketball party for us all to enjoy while we’re watching the various tournaments!
Obviously, there’s nothing too difficult here — I do easy when I do parties!
I was visiting my parents earlier this week for my dad’s birthday, so I stopped at Giant Eagle to get everything I needed.
It was so awesome to get everything I needed all in one place! And I loved the 2015 Snack Bracket displays they had around the shop with fun recipe ideas.
I tried to find anything that I could that would work for a basketball theme. Cheese balls? Nope, they’re mini basketballs.
My kids go nuts over OREO Cookies, so when I saw these Triple Double OREOS, I knew I had to get them. Seriously, triple decker OREO Cookies! Who knew these even existed?!?
I also made some basketball OREO pops with Double Stuf OREO Cookies dipped in orange candy melts. I also piped on some chocolate to make them look like little basketballs. I also had a genius idea here {if I do say so myself}. I am always struggling to figure out how to display various types of pops, and I’m never happy with what I come up with. Until today, when I looked down at the mini Reese’s Peanut Butter cups I had, and decided to try to use those. I stuck the lollipop stick in the bottom of the peanut butter cup, and voila! Super easy display idea — plus, it’s like a bonus treat on the OREO pop!
In case you were wondering why I had the peanut butter cups, it was for this Slam Dunk Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Dip. Oh, yeah, people. Dip with peanut butter cups in it. De-licious, and of course super easy to make.
Just mix some softened cream cheese, vanilla pudding mix, whipped topping and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. That’s it. I served it with Ritz Crackers and had a fabulous salty-sweet thing going on.
I also got a variety of Coke products: Coke, Coke Zero, and Diet Coke. I love offering two sizes of drinks so that you don’t end up with half-empty cans or bottles strewn all over your house — plus, these mini cans are just entirely too cute for words.
I found the mini hoops and balls at Giant Eagle as well, and thought they’d be cute little decorations for around the party table.
