I am crazy excited today. Like, jumping up and down squealing kind of excited.
My blogging buddy Ruth from Living Well, Spending Less — you’ve heard me mention her before when she wrote an amazing e-book How to Blog for Profit {Without Selling Your Soul} — emailed me a couple of months ago and asked if I’d like to be involved in her Handmade Holidays series on her blog.
Um, YEAH I would!
So I sat down and tried to think of something sweet that would be easy to make but also a cherished gift.
And this is what I came up with.
Come on. Too cute for words, right?? Even if you have never touched embroidery floss in your life, you can do this. I promise.
So head on over to Living Well, Spending Less to get the full tutorial and see how easy it is to turn your kids’ adorable drawings into permanent works of art!!

Your embroidery art is so cute.
I have some kid artwork that I want to embroider.
Is the canvas you used the kind that artists use for painting on?
Where did you get your canvas?
I will link back once I finish my project(s).

Hi Susan, thanks so much!! Yes, I got these canvases at Michael’s in the art section. The brand is Artist’s Loft. There are several price points on these, but I just used the least expensive ones. Just make sure you look at the back of the canvas — some of the bigger ones have wooden pieces going across the back to stabilize them, and that obviously makes it a lot harder to embroider around!
Please definitely link back, I’d love to see what you make!! 🙂

I love this idea. I’d seen it done for cross-stitch, but I like your version better. True confession: I’ve had my kids drawings in a folder for almost twenty years waiting for time to cross-stitch them. Yikes!
