I love this time of year. The weather is getting cooler {although, I don’t know about where you live, but here in PA, it’s been in the 80s for the past few weeks — ridiculous}, the leaves are changing, and it’s BOO’ing season.
Nope, I don’t mean Halloween. I mean BOO’ing.
BOO’ing is crazy huge in our neighborhood. Our kids get so excited when October rolls around and BOO’ing season starts — and so do most of the adults.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, BOO’ing is when you put together a bundle of Halloween goodies {called the BOO kit}, and secretly deliver it to a friend or neighbor, along with a note explaining what happened and instructions on how they can keep the fun going by BOO’ing it forward.
In our neighborhood, it involves a lot of covert running around in the dark, which, let’s face it, is fun at any age.
We usually pack our BOO kit in those little plastic pumpkin buckets or another fun Halloween-y container, but this year, I was at Walmart and found a tall, skinny white craft pumpkin, and I immediately knew that I wanted to make it into a ghost candy holder.
It was so easy to do, and I think he turned out so doggone cute, I can’t even take it.
Just take your craft pumpkin and draw on two eyes and a big mouth. You want to make sure the mouth is big enough to get all your goodies in, so be sure to make it big. {If your pumpkin has some funky spots like mine did, just strategically place the mouth over them!}
Then, just start carving! I used an exacto knife, but you could also use a regular pumpkin carving kit or a hot knife, which is similar to a wood burning tool, but with a blade at the end.
Then comes the fun part: filling it up!
I found this absolutely ginormous 400-piece MARS® Spider-Man Chocolate/Sugar Variety Bag that has Fun Size pieces of Skittles® Original, Starburst®, TWIX®, SNICKERS®, MILKY WAY® and 3 MUSKETEERS®.
I mean, seriously. LOOK at all this candy.
I also found a whole bunch of other great Halloween goodies in the seasonal and greeting card sections at Walmart, including some plastic cups, some fun decorations, photo props, mini skulls, stickers and other cute American Greetings stuff, and lots more.
