So here’s the thing about me: I’m a hot mess.
90% of the time, I’m trying to do 50 things at once, which means that none of them get done properly, and I forget things. And by “things” I mean pretty much everything.
I can’t even tell you how many times I’ve realized that it’s someone’s birthday and I forgot to get a card. Or I needed to write a thank-you note and couldn’t find any, even though I knew I had some somewhere. Or someone had a baby, but I kept forgetting to get a card every time I went to the store.
I hope I’m not the only one who does this. {Am I?!? Help me out here!}
For one of my bridal showers, my sister, who makes cards, gave me a card box. It had sections for pretty much every occasion you could dream up, and each section was stuffed full of cards. It was awesome.
But unfortunately, I’ve gone through all of those in the last 12 years, so I wanted to create a smaller card file that I could keep in my desk drawer.
I found this accordion file in the dollar bins at Target, and I thought it would be perfect. So I grabbed it and went to work.
I used my handy-dandy label maker to print out labels for each of the tabs. I used Birthday, Baby, Holiday, Thank You, and Blank/Misc.
Then I thought, “What the heck am I going to put in here?” Because cards can be expensive. Like, $5 or $6 each expensive.
And then one day, I was at Walmart doing some shopping, and I saw the Hallmark Value Cards. All cards in that section are under $2. For reals. And they start as low as $.47. Crazy town.
So I started grabbing a few every time I went to Walmart, and before I knew it, I had a nice little stash going.
Then, the other day, I saw this.
An entire display of Minions cards. I mean, who doesn’t love Minions?
My kids are crazy excited for the movie to come out {and let’s be real here, so am I. Loves me some Minions}, and I know their friends love them too, so what a great way to stock up for upcoming birthday parties!
Mason in particular loved them, especially the light and sounds ones.
Now, when I have a need for a card, I just reach into my card file and I have what I need!
Do you have a card stash? Or are you a hot mess like me who is constantly forgetting things?

I love those crazy minions! This is a great idea, I just started doing it for my business. This way I can send clients a birthday card & still be stocked with other cards for the occasions. I like your folder!
