These waffle fry sliders are made with McCain® Quick Cook Fries, egg, cheese, and sausage (or your choice of meat). They are perfect for breakfast, a quick lunch or dinner, or even an after-school snack.
I love coming up with fun new recipes, and if they are quick, easy, and perfect for pretty much every meal, then that’s even better.
These quick and easy waffle fry sliders are exactly that. They are super easy to make, and while they’re most obvious a breakfast food, they’d be great for lunch, dinner, or even an after-school snack. (I don’t know about you, but snacks are no joke in my house.)
My husband actually came up with the idea for these, and I was all in as soon as he mentioned it. I mean, what’s not to love? You’ve got fries, sausage (or ham, or bacon — whatever you want, you do you…), eggs, and cheese. Such a perfect little bite.
When I made the plan for these sliders, I had everything I needed except the waffle fries. So I headed to the frozen aisle of Wegmans, and I was so excited when I found these McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries. (Click HERE to add McCain Quick Cook Fries to your grocery cart.)
I love the idea of these fries. Their tagline is “Faster to Prepare. Easier to Share.” because they cook in half the time of other frozen French fries and other McCain products.* There’s no flipping, they have no artificial flavors, and they’re made with 100% real potatoes. So, yeah, sign me up.
The problem was, I couldn’t just stop at the waffle fries. They also had straight cut fries and crinkle cut fries. We go through a lot of fries in this house, so I just went ahead and got them all.
Ok, enough of my tangent, back to the waffle fry sliders.
How to Make Waffle Fry Sliders
I love these for a few reasons: first, as I’ve said, you can make them in minutes, especially if you make some of the ingredients in advance. They are also incredibly versatile. I made these with sausage, egg, and cheese, but you could use bacon or ham in place of the sausage. You could also add avocado if you’d like
One of the best ways to cut down on cook time for these is to make your eggs in advance. Yeah. You can make eggs in advance and freeze them. Who knew?!
There are two ways to do this, depending on how many eggs you want to cook. If you’re cooking for a crowd or want to stock up, sheet pan eggs are the way to go. All you need to do is whisk up 12 eggs with 1/2 cup of milk and pour it on a buttered or sprayed sheet pan. Bake at 375 for about 10 minutes, sprinkle it with cheese, and then return it to the oven for another 3-5 minutes.
If you don’t need quite so many eggs, then just do the same thing in a pan. Start with 6 eggs and 1/4 cup of milk and pour into a large nonstick skillet. Cook at medium heat for 5-6 minutes or until eggs are almost set. Sprinkle with cheese and cook until eggs are set and cheese is melted.
Once your eggs are completely cool, you can cut them into squares or cut out little circles with a cookie or biscuit cutter. If you have any leftovers, wrap the individual servings in plastic wrap and place in a large zip-top bag to freeze. Then, when you’re ready to make your sliders, just grab a couple of servings out of the freezer, remove them from the plastic, and pop them in the microwave for about a minute. That’s it! How easy is that??
To assemble your sliders, just cook up your McCain Quick Cook Waffle Cut Fries according to the directions on the package (I love using the air fryer for mine!). Then stack up a waffle fry, a cooked sausage patty, and an egg circle. Add another waffle fry on top, and you’re done!
Aren’t they so cute? And they’re absolutely delicious, too.
*Less oven cook time compared to McCain’s traditional fries.
