Welcome to the 31 Days of Halloween, Day #21! If you missed any of the previous days, click here!
Hi everyone. I’m Sue Purdy and I blog over at A Purdy Little House, where I love to share home decor ideas and how I’m working to create a personalized home using my DIY skills and creating decor that looks high end, but on a shoestring budget {shhhh… I won’t tell if you won’t}. I’m so happy to be here for Jenn’s Endlessly Inspired 31 Days of Halloween to share with you my Spooky Halloween Tablescape that I completed to welcome the ghosts and goblins that will be knocking at the door on Halloween.
I absolutely LOVE Halloween, and it brings back such fun and exciting memories for me. I remember being quite young and touring a haunted house that was hosted in an old abandoned century home in my hometown. Since then, I’ve been hooked on Halloween. While I actually hate scary movies, I somehow ended up with a deep appreciation for this ghoulish day.
Getting to share my love of Halloween with my family is also one of my favorite things to do. Of course, any holiday decorating that I do starts at the dollar store and thrift store, and this spooky Halloween tablescape is no exception.
I started with this black and white houndstooth throw blanket I picked up at a thrift store. After a good wash, it was ready to be the base of my tablescape. The plates, black napkins and napkin ring holders were also a thrift store find, and I love how they can be used for many other types of table settings, but also work with this spooky theme perfectly.
The tapered candle sticks and holders are from the dollar store, along with the ravens, gauze, mini skulls and spiders. This table was very inexpensive to put together overall, and I love the spooky and haunted effect.
I placed these mini skulls on the top of each napkin to make it look like a ghostly hooded creature. If that doesn’t work to make you lose your appetite, how about some spiders or giant ants?
I used real mini casper pumpkins throughout the table, and placed these plastic spiders and oversized ants on their tops.
The gauze draped over each candlesticks helps give the illusion of cobwebs.
These fun little skulls (from the dollar store) made me chuckle and I couldn’t quite figure out what they were for. I tried placing them is several different spots, but then tried them on each guests drinking jar, and thought they looked fun since they seem to be crawling out of each jar.
Thank you so much for checking out my Spooky Halloween Tablescape and I wish you all a safe and Happy Halloween!
