My favorite spring and summer evenings involve sitting on the patio with a bunch of neighbors, watching the kids play wiffle ball in the backyard. My husband is always at the grill, so we are constantly on the lookout for new grilling ideas.
I mean, seriously: is there anything that says “summer” more than a bunch of people gathered around a grill? When the weather gets warm, we spend a ton of time outside. We live in a neighborhood full of kids, and we always end up with extra people in our yard.
A few weeks ago, we were at Sam’s Club and saw these new Smokehouse Flavor Tyson Grillin’ Wings.
They are fully cooked, and you can put them on the grill right out of the bag — while they’re still frozen! Talk about easy party food!
While the wings are delicious on their own, we decided we could make them even better. So we whipped up a Bacon Chipotle Barbecue Sauce and a Cilantro Ranch Dipping Sauce. And oh my goodness, did they end up being good. The smokehouse flavor of the wings really brought out the smokiness of the bacon.
Now, I have a thing about ranch. I have been known to order food in restaurants based solely on whether or not they can be dipped in ranch. Amazingly, though, this was the first time I ever made homemade ranch. This was so easy to make, and it ended up being creamy and amazing. It would also be perfect on salads and as a dip for veggies or french fries. I’m not sure I’ll buy ranch ever again.
Barbecue sauce is another thing I think people might be a little intimidated to make, but it too is super easy. You pretty much just toss everything in a pot and let it cook for a couple of hours. That’s it. This sauce isn’t crazy spicy, but it has a great little kick to it. Delicious.
For parties, I love serving wings and dipping sauce in a chip-and-dip bowl. It’s an easy, casual way to get everything out there for a relaxed get together. {Bonus: there’s only one dish to wash!}
To drink, there’s nothing better than a big pitcher of Country Time Lemonade. Pick up a giant can of it when you’re at Sam’s Club getting your wings, and you’ll be set for the summer!
My husband is crazy excited about these wings for tailgating in the fall. Just toss the bag into the cooler, and then onto the grill when we get there. Could not be easier.

Grilled Bacon Chipotle Wings with Cilantro Ranch Dipping Sauce
Ingredients
For the barbecue sauce
- 3 slices center cut bacon chopped
- 1 clove garlic smashed
- 1 T chipotle powder
- 1 T dried minced onion
- 1 t dried mustard
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 T apple cider vinegar
- 1 T white sugar
- 1/2 c water
- 1 T worcestershire sauce
- 2 c ketchup
For the Ranch
- 1/2 c sour cream
- 1 cup mayo
- 1/4 c chopped cilantro
- 1/4 c chopped parsley
- Dash of cayenne
- 2 T fresh chives chopped
- 1/4 buttermilk
- salt and pepper to taste
For the wings
- 1 bag Tyson Grillin' Wings
Instructions
For the Bacon Chipotle Barbecue Sauce
- 1. Place bacon in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Cook bacon until crispy. Remove bacon from pan and reserve.
- 2. In the same pan, add smashed garlic clove and cook in bacon grease for approximately 2 minutes or until golden brown, stirring constantly to ensure garlic doesn't burn. Remove garlic from pan and discard. Add chipotle powder, minced onion and dried mustard and cook over low heat for 3-4 minutes to bloom the spices.
- 3. Add brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, sugar, water, worcestershire sauce and ketchup. Stir until thoroughly combined, and reduce heat to low. Cover and cook for 1.5 - 2 hours, stirring occasionally. Add crumbled bacon back in for last 15 minutes of cooking time.
For the Cilantro Ranch
- 1. Combine all ingredients except buttermilk, salt and pepper in a small bowl and mix thoroughly. Add buttermilk as necessary to thin out sauce to desired consistency. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to combine. Stir and taste before serving, adding salt and pepper to taste.
For the wings
- 1. Grill wings according to package directions.
- 2. Toss in Bacon Chipotle Barbecue Sauce and place back on grill for another two minutes. Serve with Cilantro Ranch Dipping Sauce.
