Prep Time 20 mins
Cook Time 40 mins
Total Time 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup bacon grease room temperature
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 c water
  • 1 T beef broth concentrate {see notes}
  • 1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
  • 2 c whole wheat flour
  • 4 slices bacon cooked, cooled & crumbled
  • 1/4 c old fashioned oats

Instructions

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • 2. In a stand mixer or electric mixer, mix together bacon grease, egg, water, beef broth concentrate and peanut butter until smooth. Add in whole wheat flour, 1/2 cup at a time, until fully combined. Add in bacon and oats and mix until combined.
  • 3. If necessary, knead dough together to get everything fully mixed in. On a lightly floured surface, roll half of the dough out to approximately 1/4" thick. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place 1/2" apart on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Knead scraps back together and repeat. Repeat with second half of dough.
  • 4. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until hard and crunchy. Cool completely before feeding to your dog.

Notes

Be sure to use beef broth concentrate that does not include onions, as onions can be toxic to dogs. If you can't find beef broth concentrate, eliminate concentrate and water and just use 1/2 cup of onion-free beef broth.
